Marlene's Story
Marlene Tobin was born on June 30, 1960, in New York City and later made her home in Inverness, Florida. A longtime Citrus County educator, coach, mentor, athlete, and runner, she placed family and community at the center of her life.
Marlene passed peacefully at home on June 11, 2026, surrounded by her loving family and under the care of hospice. MT Hearts Foundation was created in her memory to preserve her legacy through fitness, service, and community and to carry forward the strength, generosity, and compassion that defined her life.

Supporting the Metastatic Breast Cancer Community
On Saturday, June 19, 2027, MT Hearts Foundation will host the inaugural MT Hearts Memorial 5K at Citrus High School in Inverness. Featuring a 5K Run, 1-Mile Walk, Kids Fun Run, and Virtual Race, the event will bring runners, walkers, families, and neighbors together to honor Marlene and support causes close to her heart.
Registration is now open. Proceeds after expenses support metastatic breast cancer research through METAvivor and students and families at Hernando Elementary School, with 50% directed to each.
